2 Explore&Expand workshops were held in March
On March 15-17, during one of the biggest european bioeconomy event, BIOKET, our ambassadors, IAR – The French Bioeconomy Cluster held the E&E workshop aiming at bringing european start-ups to the event and not only French ones. It allowed the investors to get in touch with companies that they would not have met or would not have been in their direct scope.
The E&E workshop has involved 16 start-ups pitching. Each had a 4 to 5 minutes pitch available to present their companies through ppt supports in front of an audience of investors but as well as industrials looking for new processes. Investors were present such as Finnovam gestion, ECBF, Wiseed and Elaia Partners. Each start-ups also benefited from a space in our start-up village, to allow other participants that could not have attended the pitches to meet them (such as Sofinnova partners for investors which representative was present only on March 16th).
On March 24, partners Flanders’ FOOD e Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant organised a successful Pitch event in the Pilot facilities.
12 qualitative start-ups were selected to join the event and pitch for 8 well known investors, including Capricorn investment and v-bio Ventures. In total more than 35 people were present and the event turned out to be a great learning experience. Each start-up had 5 minutes to pitch their business idea and their investment needs. Followed by the pitch, a panel of 4 investors was given the floor to ask questions for 8 minutes to dive deeper into different aspects of the growth journey. Both technical and business questions were asked.
The event consisted of two pitch rounds of each 6 start-ups. The pitches were followed by a networking lunch at the rooftop terrace! The day was concluded with a tour around the pilot facilities, to get a sneak peek at all the equipment available in the plant.
